Well, hello there, Friday!
Yes, the opening salutations are getting worse...but I bet you laughed, smiled, or shook your head thinking I'm losing my mind. You know you just did now.
Okay, onwards to this question which was a tad strange to write:
This question started as…how do you keep track of the body parts…but it’s morphed into exploring our erotic scene writing habits and I’m going to bring in the basic bad porn movie to explain.
If you’ve ever watched one the sex scenes always seem to be: start in the position, move to this position, then this one, now this one, back to this one. New scene/new actors, repeat previous positions.
Do you have scene habits? Have you ever even thought about this before? And, how do you keep track of body parts? Yes, as an editor, I once asked ‘so how are they keeping balance if the legs are ____, the hands are _____, uhm…well…what exactly is the size of _____.
After going through the editing process, I try to be more aware of positioning and what’s physically possible. It reminds me of a scene towards the beginning of Private Benjamin when Judy’s (Goldie Hawn) husband tells her to lift her hind leg and she tells him, totally deadpan, “honey, I don’t have a hind leg.”
(or...I have a headache...want an aspirin...not that type)
Thank you for dropping over, we appreciate it. Have a fun weekend and hope to you see next week.
