Sexy Summer Reads - What's Hot and What's Not?

Hello and welcome to Muse It Hot blog. I’m Kay Dee Royal, an MIH author and I’m very excited about this week because it’s our Grand Re-Introduction of this Hottie-Hot-Hot Blog.

*claps and twirls around, punching the air above head*

Okay – it’s our very first THEME DAY – and our regularly scheduled author is off at a gathering with Lori Foster…so she’s totally forgiven and I get to play stand-in for the day ;)

So, let’s talk sexy summer reads – what’s hot to you and

what’s not…This is your burning question for the

day ;0) Leave your comment.

My favorite SS read is…sexy :0) short ;0) with a happy ever after ending. Is that asking too much? *LOL*

Note: I really don’t have any ‘nots’ other than probably wouldn’t read Christmas stories at this time of year :0)

For an array of great sexy shorties, look no further than The Lacey’s Lamp series

Lynn Crain wrote Oasis in the Desert

Mya doesn’t believe in miracles when her dead-beat ex-boyfriend leaves her to die in the sizzling summer Nevada heat. Then one appears in the form of the bar, Lacey’s Lamp, she still doubts her luck. She’s even more astounded that Lacey can help her get back her life and the only man she’s ever loved, Marcus Bennett.

Mya doesn’t quite have faith in the woman until she lands back in Dr. Mark’s arms and sees the love that’s always awaited her. Now, it’s her turn to make the miracle of a new life filled with joy and happiness.

Kat Holmes wrote Hannah’s Wish

Hannah Calder is about to spend another Thanksgiving alone. On a whim she enters Lacey’s Lamp Bar and meets the owner. When Lacey says she’s a genie and will grant Hannah one wish, she doesn’t believe it but decides to play along. She wishes for someone to spend the holiday with.

But Lacey really is a genie and with the help of a freak early winter storm, Hannah’s going to have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season.

In fact, if you stop in at our store:  and search for Lacey’s Lamp Series – you’re going to get a whole list of fun hot choices.

There’s something else about sexy, summer reads…it has to do with beaches and water, cruises and vacations…Lacinda and Blade’s story fits this perfectly - a whole lot of sizzling wild times in One Plus One…

Coerced by her friend, Lacinda, a woman crushed by love, winds up on a three week singles cruise.

Blade, a man of means, discovers Miss Right under the guise of a singles cruise set up by his business partner.

Once Blade focuses his efforts he always gets what he’s after, until Lacinda throws his arrogant reputation back in his face.

Can Blade break through Lacinda’s angry barriers? Will she ever see him as anything more than a player?

Short Excerpt:

Lacinda stepped across the upper dock, moving ever closer to the huge cruise ship. Her stomach roiled and clenched, nerves working overtime as her best friend’s words buzzed inside her head…

“A no-tell three weeks; a stimulating respite with someone looking for the same thing; like minds liking bodies that sail. OMG, a whole three weeks of primal lust with no strings attached. Isn’t that every woman’s dream?” Avery’s excitement came through loud and clear weeks before the trip. She never stopped reiterating how much Lacinda needed to get away.

Heat burned down her neck and settled between her breasts as Lacinda recalled the ten pages of personal, detailed questions and some of her responses. The explicit descriptions of her favorite sexual positions and something new she’d never done before. Her knees turned liquid and she leaned against the rough wooden rail of the dock. A steady stream of men and women around her age passed, no one talking, but all hurrying up the boardwalk.

What has Avery gotten me into?

Kay Dee Royal writes contemporary, paranormal and fantasy romancemaybe because it's also her favorite genres to read! She pens tales with wild, rugged heroes and strong, intelligent heroines. She'll give them both a few shadowy secrets, making her stories intriguing and fun. She resides in Lower Michigan with her family (her dogs, her cats, her caged husband... you get the idea). I love Summer Reads that are sexy and fun and little bit lighter - Love with a HEA. I also love to start a series then because I may just have more time to finish it!

Some of my favorites would be Sasha Summer's Hollywood Ever-After, Rosanna Leo's Predator's Kiss, Harlie Williams' The Couple, Twilight series, Hush,Hush series, Linda Lael Miller's Montana series, Under the Tuscan Sun, Lora Leigh's Nauti series, Paloma Beck's Seven Sin Sisters series, any of Lia Davis or Carry Ann Ryan's shifter books, or Heather Thurmeier's Reality TV series.

Thanks for this fun idea!

Oh! Sexy Short know I haven't given it much thought. I don't have a requirement for summer reads...okay, other than I don't like reading holiday themed books. As in wintery/springy/fally ones. ;-) Give me a steamy summer hurricane or tropical storm on an island and I'm good to go for a few hours. Guess those are my faves. Storms. I LOVE summer storms! Just gets the adrenaline pumping all the way around when you mix steamy hot scenes AND storms. *fans self* I haven't read a good short with a storm recently. Gonna have to go in search of one now. :D
